About sha1 generation

What is sha1?

SHA-1 or Secure Hash Algorithm 1 is one of several cryptographic hash functions that takes input and produces a 160-bit (20-byte) hash value. This message digest is usually then rendered as a hexadecimal number which is 40 digits long.

SHA-1 is most often used to verify that a file has been unaltered. This is done by producing a checksum before the file has been transmitted, and then again once it reaches its destination.

The SHA1 hash is NOT encryption. This is just a fingerprint of this entry. However, this is a one-way transaction, and therefore it is almost impossible to reverse the SHA1 hash to get the original string. SHA1 hash is composed of 40 hexadecimal characters. Enter a word or some text in the sha1 online form above to know the corresponding SHA1 hash.
